Formerly Kansas City Bolt, Nut and Screw Company, Red Streak Corporation was founded by John Folk in 1946. John had served in a government procurement position, primarily sourcing metal parts for gliders and vehicles during World War II. He discovered that mills making fastener products sold only to the largest users leaving a supply void for smaller companies. He started Kansas City Bolt, Nut and Screw Company to fill that void as the Kansas City area's first local distributor of fastener products. The business grew based on John's philosophy that "You can't sell from an empty wagon."

During the 1990's, Kansas City Bolt, Nut and Screw Company became Red Streak Corporation. The new name reflected the company's increasing focus on improving customers' supply process. It also helped indicate the Organization's shift in emphasis away from providing fasteners to supplying metal components used in assembly manufacturing.

In 2004, Red Streak moved its offices from the Kansas City West Bottom's to the booming Crossroad's Art District. The company's current President, Bryan Folk, carries on his father's philosophy but on a worldwide scale. Today, Red Streak Corporation sells from a wagon full of global capabilities.
